Taylor Swift’s Grammy Performance Defended.
- by TFB
The head of Taylor Swift’s record label is hitting back at those who criticized Swift’s recent Grammy performance:
“She is the voice of this generation. She speaks directly to (her fans), and they speak directly back to her,” said Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta in a phone interview. “This is not `American Idol.’ This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.”
All I can say is thank goodness I’m not a part of this generation. Borchetta spewed a lot of other crap, but I think the section above really covered it.
Taylor Swift is like Madonna – can’t sing well live, but gives a great show. I guess.
If various organizations want to give Taylor tons of awards based on whatever – good for her. Whether she (or anyone else) deserves them or not doesn’t really matter – never has mattered.
I don’t think Taylor’s performance was as bad as people are saying. I’ve heard her do worse. She wasn’t that great at the Haiti telethon either here. Taylor’s just “okay” live. Why anyone’s just realizing that now is what’s surprising.
Of course, Taylor’s going to be a huge star for a long time. She blonde with blue eyes, tall, model thin, and seems (or actually is) “virginal” – that counts for a lot in this country.
Stevie Nicks was gracious in this performance. She understood it wasn’t about “real’ singing. It was more just about having fun. Taylor should not try to dance. It’s just looks wrong.

2010 Grammy Awards: The Fashion of Lady GaGa.
- by TFB
Lady GaGa went all out at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards last night.
GaGa wore multiple outfits custom made by Giorgio Armani Privé. Both GaGa and Armani released statements about their Grammy fashion collaboration.
Armani on GaGa:
“We hear Lady Gaga’s music everywhere we go,” Armani said in a statement to UsMagazine.com. “It is like a soundtrack of our times. In addition to her formidable songwriting skills, she is a modern fashion phenomenon. I am delighted to be creating these outfits on such an important night for her, the Grammys, and I wish her the best of luck.”
GaGa on Armani:
“I am honored to be wearing Armani this evening,” she said in a statement to Us. “The series of pieces Mr. Armani created for me are truly iconic; they represent not only beautiful fashion, but my spirit and essence as an artist. Mr. Armani is a fashion legend, and tonight would not have been the same without his touch, and his wonderful team.”
I love what Armani’s team did for GaGa. Armani knows how to keep up with the time. It’s the only to survive.
